Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation has awarded a $224,000 contract to Newfound Roofing Ltd. to undertake exterior renovations and electrical upgrades to six social housing homes on Watson Street in St. John’s.
“Since 2007, close to 77 per cent of the province’s social housing units have received upgrades. These renovations are part of the substantial modernization and improvement work that has been literally changing the face of social housing throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. We are pleased to see the positive impacts this is having for tenants and their communities.”
– The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister Responsible for the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation
The homes will receive new roofing, siding, windows, doors, and ventilation and electrical upgrades – including the installation of heat recovery ventilation systems (HRVs). The improvements will also include new bathroom, kitchen and laundry light fixtures and exhaust fans throughout the units. The anticipated completion date for this work is October 2015.
