Wally Drake’s Trucking Ltd. of Marystown has been awarded a $134,000 contract to provide exterior and interior upgrades to two Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation properties in Burin.
“The upgrading of social housing properties throughout the province helps ensure the safety and comfort of these homes today, while sustaining their long-term availability for individuals and families in greatest need.”
– The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister Responsible for the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation
Located on Topsail Road in Burin, the two homes will receive new siding, windows, doors and flooring, along with complete bathroom and kitchen retrofits – including new fixtures, cabinets and ventilation systems. They will also be painted throughout. The work will include a conversion from oil furnace to electric heat, electrical and plumbing upgrades, and installation of heat recovery ventilation systems (HRVs). The anticipated completion date for this work is October 2015.
Since 2007, close to 77 per cent of Newfoundland and Labrador units province-wide have been upgraded.
