This program is designed to help low-to-moderate income homeowners who need to make accessibility changes to their homes to allow them to stay in them longer.

Who is eligible?
Homeowners who need accessibility modifications with an annual income of $51,500 or less ($65,000 in Labrador).
This program is for people who are not NLHC clients.
What types of modifications are eligible?
Eligible accessibility modifications allow the individual to return to (or remain at) home long term, and may include items such as:
Please note: While we no longer require a recommendation letter from an Occupational Therapist for minor work like the installation of grab bars or handrails, we still require a letter for major work, like bathroom modifications or ramp installation.

How will I get this money?
NLHC provides funding to eligible homeowners in the form of a forgivable loan up to $15,000 to cover the cost of repairs.
This forgivable loan does not need to be repaid if the homeowner remains in the home for five years. If the homeowner moves out three or four years after the modifications are made, for example, they may have to repay a portion of the loan.
